About The Restaurant
Beautifully situated, just outside of the town, in Ireland’s beloved gourmet capital of Kinsale, Co. Cork, Kinsale Hotel & Spa, just 25 minutes from Cork Airport, and set on 90 acres of gorgeous woodland is the perfect place to escape from the world for a weekend of primping and pampering whilst delighting in the superb fare, beautiful scenery and warm vibe of this famed Irish town.
Kinsale is indeed known for its over-running cup of great restaurants, and this hotel’s Rockpool Restaurant is certainly a welcome addition. The room itself is cool and contemporary with high ceilings featuring a beautiful glass atrium, not to mention the floor to ceiling panoramic views out over Oysterhaven Bay which make the space feel so open and relaxing.
Besides from the beautiful aesthetic they’ve created here, the food itself is excellent. Not overly high-brow but instead making the kind of food everyone loves at a level that’s exceptional. They offer great food throughout the day, but, at dinnertime, you can expect starters like steamed Roaring Bay mussels in a white wine cream sauce with crusty garlic bread; Cajun spiced fried calamari; as well as braised McCarthy’s pork belly with an Asian style salad.
Mains might include their Kinsale beer-battered fish & chips with mushy peas and tartare; butter-roasted salmon fillet with wasabi creamed potato, glazed carrots and lemon foam; or a hearty 10oz McCarthy’s prime Irish beef burger on a brioche bun with smoked bacon, black pudding, pickle, smoked cheddar, lettuce, tomato, red onion and a side of hand cut chunky fires. Are you drooling yet? Well there's also McCarthy’s prime Irish 8oz Sirloin with braised mushroom, confit tomato and Jameson pepper sauce; their signature seafood risotto; or even some Moroccan-spiced roast rump of lamb.
For dessert, think homemade individual Pavlovas served with fresh cream, seasonal fruit and toasted almonds, or perhaps a warm chocolate & hazelnut brownie with a rich dark chocolate sauce and vanilla bean ice-cream.
There’s no doubt that The Rockpool Restaurant is a Great Place to Eat, but if you’re also looking for a Great Place To Stay, Kinsale Hotel & Spa has everything you could want and more.
