There was a minor stampede of bloggers, critics and the ever-floating set of “Insta foodies” across the Liffey, as they followed in the footsteps of the new Pied Pipers of the hip restaurant scene to their latest opening, Hera. The new offering from Sean Crescenzi and Jamie McCarthy is located in Juno bar at Binn’s Bridge over the Royal Canal, which leads D1 Dorset Street on to D9 Drumcondra. The interest in what the pair will do next is now just as big of a deal as the attention the original Press Up guys, Paddy McKillen Jnr and Matt Ryan, were getting a few years ago. Crescenzi and McCarthy’s popularity has really ramped up since they totally revamped Crudo’s offering in Sandymount a year or two ago and went on to open the fab Achara, a contemporary Liffeyside Thai eatery last summer.

You have to admire their ambition and concepts for, apart from a few exceptions, the Northside is pretty well starved of the good restaurants it deserves. In this new venture, they are joined by Brian McCarthy and Jonnie Foley who have The Fourth Corner pub in D8 Patrick Street.
