About The Hotel

Monart is the jewel in the crown of the Griffin Group Hotels. Liam Griffin spotted the beautiful 18th Century Monart House near Enniscorthy when it came up for sale about five years ago and realised he could create something really different here, something that wasn’t already in Ireland, a stand alone Destination Spa for adults only.

He restored the original Monart house and it now acts as a gateway to this stunning 21st Century Spa experience designed with the emphasis on the 3 R’s – not the ones you learned in school – but Rest, Relaxation and Renewal. Nothing has been spared and this whole place is a hymn to design – really gorgeous.

In a world that has become increasingly concerned with being eco-friendly and monitoring our carbon footprint impact, this purpose-built spa offers accommodation in beautiful, chalet-style wooden residences that blend in with the timber surrounds, embracing the lush outdoors. It’s restful from first glance, inspired by the restorative powers of nature and incorporating lots of natural light through large windows, once inside you can avail of the tools of relaxation which man-kind has harnessed and developed.

All rooms boast either woodland or lake view, with balcony or terrace. If, like me, you’ve always fantasised about sinking into a gorgeous four-poster bed, why not book yourself into one of the suites? Rooms are decorated in calm, muted colours and are furnished with the most luxurious bedding imaginable – all you need to do after your rigorous treatments or lazy lounging is to reserve enough energy to tuck yourself in!

Monart offers the most comprehensive and cutting edge ranges of Spa facilities and treatments, and has an exclusive partnership with the top American Spa product line Pevonia Botanica. In its vast 2400 square metres, the Spa area contains 14 neutral gender treatment rooms, sanarium, outdoor Swedish log sauna with ice shower grotto, cadarium, aroma cave, salt grotto, traditional Hamam, mud chamber and hydrotherapy pools to name but a few. So think along the lines of luxuriating in a Full Detox Seaweed Thalasso Wrap for the poor old body and achieve inch loss as well. Another good one is the Green Coffee Body wrap for the breakdown of cellulite and fat, which also helps transform fat into energy. The Elasto-firm facemask treatment, cited as a non-surgical face-lift, is also popular.

Fine dining is available at the Spa’s restaurant – guests can select healthy/detox options or go for something a little more sinful - depending on the particular persuasion of the devil/angel on your shoulder that day! As a Food Critic I don’t have to tell you what is always on my shoulder!! The restaurant prides itself on preparing and serving local produce and there is a big emphasis on providing fresh home-made fare including breads, dressings and preserves. A lighter, bistro style menu is available for guests and non-residents, as is afternoon tea which is served every day in the Garden Lounge. There is also a café on site which is open to residents and day-guests.

Just about 90 minutes from Dublin’s big smoke, this is THE ideal place to get away from it all and start tree hugging!

Monart is where it's at!
