About The Hotel
“Thelma and Louise” said the General Manager, of the 5 Star Hayfield Manor Hotel welcoming and helping the windblown disheveled pair scramble out of the low open topped car with their bags. It is not very often that the General Manager of any Hotel is at the door to greet one – they are usually hiding away in their Offices leaving the front of house stuff to their minions. I must say it was very impressive and this hands on approach clearly results in a very high standard of performance all round.
Hayfield Manor is a member of Preferred Hotels & Resorts Legend Collection which represents premier global properties that offer the ultimate in luxury. A red bricked neo-Georgian building set in two acres of ground with mature trees and surrounded by a 15-foot wall. Located beside the University it has a magnificent new Spa, along with shimmering Pool and Beauty Salon just for residents’ use. The first impression is “oh, it’s so pretty” – like a Connecticut Mansion in an American movie – everything perfect with a lovely old picturesque tree right outside the front door, topiary planters, carriage lights, and a liveried doorman. The bedrooms are beautifully draped and lavishly furnished and I got to stay in the Master Suite immediately following on Pierce Brosnan and his wife! I felt like I never wanted to leave it. This is where anyone who is anyone stays when they come to Cork. There is an air of being cushioned away from the real world at Hayfield and, although it is 5 star, it is absolutely unpretentious.
Fabulous gourmet food is served in Orchids Restaurant – foie gras parfait, scallops, turbot, lamb, organic duck breast and so on whilst in the lovely new light and airy conservatory style fashionable Perrott’s Bistro there is a superb a la carte selection of modern food at very reasonable prices. There is of course further pampering available at The Beautique at Hayfield Manor, which offers superb Elemis Spa Therapy in male and female treatment rooms. It is the ultimate urban retreat. Hayfield, a wonderful luxurious oasis in Cork, only a mile from Patrick Street and is the perfect place for business or pleasure. Enquire too about their special breaks. I just want to live permanently in the picture postcard world of Hayfield Manor. Special Offers are available throughout the year so do check the website and contact the hotel re those rates.
