About The Hotel
The Limerick Strand Hotel is a spanking modern hotel which was developed in 2007 on the site of the former Jury’s Hotel at O’Callaghan Strand in the vibrant heart of Limerick City. Some €50m went into the creation of this 7 story ultra modern and stylish 4 Star Hotel, which has been making waves not only in the hospitality scene but in the foodie scene.
Developed and owned by the very experienced Galway based Lally family who also own The Harbour Hotel in Galway, the Hilton Dublin Kilmainham, Barnacles Hostels brand in Dublin and Galway, and also provide the tourism services at the famous Kylemore Abbey and Victorian Walled Gardens in Connemara.
A variety of bedrooms from Superior, Superior Riverview, Triple, Family, Executive, to Junior Suites and the ultimate Presidential Suite offer the very best of contemporary elegance and comfort with Kingsize and Twin bedded Pillow Top Extra Comfort Beds, 200 thread count Egyptian Cotton linen, goose down duvets and pillows (foam available), 32” multi channel Plasma TVs and complimentary WIFI. Everything has been thought of here with a refrigerator, a work desk, a laptop compatible safe. All of the rooms are very spacious, it just depends on whether you would like a view of the River Shannon – now I like a view of the churning River Shannon – it is fascinating. If you really want to treat yourself go for a Junior Suite, all of which overlook the river. They have enclosed balconies with unique glass facades which are gorgeous in the winter too and with great vistas of the city’s skyline.
They have a lovely Health Centre at the Limerick Strand, aptly named Energize, with four pools including a 20-metre pool, sauna and Jacuzzi. So, be sure to have a relaxing dip on your visit.
As I mentioned, the food is excellent at the Strand under the baton of Executive Chef Tom Flavin. Indeed, they have picked up two Great Taste Gold Two Star Awards for his delicious Caesar Salad Dressing and Homemade Chicken Liver Parfait. They have also won a Silver Medal at the Blas Na hEireann Food Awards. The emphasis here is on local and seasonal produce and they partner with local farms and dairies wherever possible in sourcing the best food. There are two dining options, The River Restaurant and the casual Terrace Bar and Cafe. You can read more about these on the Restaurant side of my website.
Enjoy – it’s a great hotel in a great city.
