Part of the picturesque Killeen House Hotel at Aghadoe in Killarney, Co. Kerry, Rozzers Restaurant offers its patrons an array from a fab seasonal food with menus that are fresh local and brimming with flair. This is contemporary Irish fare done right.
The restaurant itself is set across two rooms, both of which offer wonderful garden views of this beautifully manicure estate. The space is warm and inviting, yet spacious enough that you’d never find yourself feeling claustrophobic.
From their four course dinner menus, for starters, at Rozzers Restaurant, you can expect the likes of slow roasted Irish pork belly in Cronin’s cider with Granny Smith brunoise and a pickled apple & burnt apple puree; a half dozen Cromane Bay oysters au natural, Catalan style or with spiced Irish honey; or perhaps their Killeen House Gin & beetroot cured salmon gravlax.
Middle courses are a feature here with palate cleansing sorbets and house salads, plus seasonal soups or their heart-warming Rozzers Atlantic seafood chowder.
When it comes to the mains, carnivores will be in heaven with mouthwatering selections like pan-fried fillet of Irish beef with sautéed wild mushrooms, potato gratin, carrot puree and port jus; or maybe a roast rack of Kerry lamb in a pistachio and herb crust with minted pea puree, gratin potatoes and a red wine jus. Fishophiles will be similarly delighted with offerings like pan-fried medallions of monkfish with a lardon risotto and a charcoal dusting; or pan-fried halibut in lemon and dill butter with a creamy cauliflower puree, black olive, pancetta and a chicken jus. Vegetarians too are catered for with dishes like wild mushroom risotto in a seasonall herb oil.
They also do a great Chateaubriand on their specials menu, not to mention a killer surf n’ turf of grilled Irish prawns and medallions of Irish beef with potato gratin, baby spinach with Hollandaise sauce and a red wine jus. Save space too for luscious desserts and wonderful cheeses.
