About The Restaurant
A sister restaurant to the ever popular Diwali Indian & Nepalese restaurant on Dublin's South Great George's Street and the excellent Kathmandu Kitchen on Dame Street, both of which are owned by the highly experienced restaurateur, Nabaraj Koirala, Diwali Camden Street offers all the same style and flair along with a superb menu of eastern delights to excite the senses, not to mention a great selection of wines, liquors and cocktails as well.
Starters here include tasty faves like vegetable samosas, onion bhajis and melt in the mouth chicken wings slow-cooked and served with sweet and sour glaze. There's allo chap (crispy potato cakes with red onion, ginger, garlic, cumin and coriander), as well as grilled marinated tiger prawns, along with Nepali lamb kebab cooked with bell peppers and a tikka masala sauce. Their steamed MoMo are always a pleasure, but if you want to try a little of a lot, check out their fab Diwali sharing mix for two.
For the mains, they offer a great selection of bbq tandoori sizzler cooked dishes, from a classic chicken tandoori to clay oven monkfish freshly marinated with authentic spices, yoghurt, ginger and garlic. Curries too are always popular at Diwali, with a host of tasty options to choose from, be it a Himalayan chicken curry with cashew nut, natural yoghurt, fresh coriander, green chilli, sweet onion, ginger, garlic, tomato and Himalayan salt, or perhaps a king prawn masala cooked with coconut cream, coriander, chilli and a tomato and onion sauce. If you enjoy lamb, the Khasi Ko Masu is a real treat, the homestyle spring lamb being cooked to perfection with onion, tomato, ginger, garlic, coriander and garam masala.
The all time faves menu features all the heavy hitters from creamy chicken kormas, to butter chicken, spiced lamb rogan josh or a crunchy chicken jalfrezi. Want to turn up the heat a little? Then try their 'very' hot Goan-style Vindaloo or perhaps a South Indian Madras, both being served with your choice of chicken or lamb.
The Biryani dishes here are excellent also, and vegetarians aren't forgotton with a Garden Corner menu of dedicated dishes such as slow-cooked dal tempered with cumin seed, ginger and garlic, or Bhindi Bhaji of stir-fried okra with onions, tomatoes, ground dry mango, spices and coriander.
For dessert, indulge in some tasty coconut shell ice-cream or a Tarta Fantastica, featuring vanilla and caramel ice-cream with chocolate covered toffee balls, toffee sauce and almonds. There's pistachio kulfi, not to mention sweet Gulab Jamun, an authentic Indian dessert of fried milk solids in a sweet syrup.
Whether your there for lunch or dinner, or simply order a takeout, you're sure to be delighted by the food and service at Diwali Camden Street.
