About The Restaurant
Located in the charming seaside commuter town of Rush in North County Dublin, the fab Indian Restaurant Haldi by Manish has been turning heads with its authentic flavourful fare. Established and run by husband and wife duo Manish and Priyanka Sharma, the pair have an excellent culinary pedigree having previously worked at 5 star hotels all over India, from Goa to Jaipur, not to mention a stint for Manish at one of Ireland’s best Indian restaurants, Rasam in SoCoDu, where I first him.
At Haldi, they promise patrons a menu of regally prepared dishes suitable for a true foodie. Appetisers include all the regular faves like onion bhaji, vegetable samosa chaat and aloo tikka chaat. There’s vegetable pakora, a selection of golden-fried gram-flour-coated seasonal veg, spiced with coriander seeds and cumin, not to mention their superb Haldi special meat platter of chicken tikka, sheek kebab, tiger prawn and tandoori chicken. The paneer chatpata is a cheesy delight, the cottage fromage being marinated in tangy spices, sautéed with bell peppers and onions.
For the mains, there’s plenty to choose from with great clay oven dishes like murgh tikka, tandoori jhinga or whole tandoori seabass marinated with green chilli, coconut, coriander, turmeric and kokum paste, finished with lemon juice and served with a side of Bombay aloo and salad. All clay oven dishes also come with tasty masala chips.
There’s biriyanis and super house specials like mango prawns or nalli gosht, and all the familiar curry dishes are there too, cooked to perfection and offered with your choice of meat, veg, tofu or paneer, from kormas to tikka masalas, jalfrezis to baltis, rogan joshs and so on. If you like your Indian curries to have a kick, so to speak, try the garlic chill masala or a good old fiery vindaloo.
Vegetarians aren’t forgotten, with delicious offerings like palak Malai kofta, delicious dumplings of ground baby spinach, potatoes and pistachio in a creamy garlic tomato sauce, and they even have a dedicated vegan menu with dishes like aloo gobhi, cauliflower florets and potatoes with cumin, ginger and turmeric, or tofu kadai masala, the tofu being tossed in tomato and onion sauce with cooked peppers, garlic and freshly ground coriander seed, chilli flakes and peppercorns, all vegan mains being served with boiled or pilau rice. For dessert, treat yourself to an indulgent chocolate brownie with ice-cream sorbet, a delicious raspberry sorbet, or maybe some tasty authentic Malai kulfi - which I absolutely love.
So, if you fancy yourself an Indian aficionado and you’re looking for premium Indian food in North County Dublin, look no further than Haldi by Manish. Indeed, why not make a day of it in lovely Rush by the sea, followed by Manish's delicious food.
Oh, and they do great takeaways too!
