About The Restaurant

Lorraine Heskin and Lorraine Byrne are two young ladies with a passion for delicious food of which they have an extraordinary knowledge. They opened their first Gourmet Food Parlour on Cumberland Street in Dun Laoire, not far from where I live in 2006. Their attention to detail and good food has meant that they have rapidly expanded first of all to Swords in 2008 where they have opened a larger store and then at The Grange on Oldtown Road in Ballyboughal, North County Dublin.
Their most recent Gourmet Food Parlour however is now on the coast road between Malahide and Portmarnock where they share occupancy with the MU Gym building have a stunning location with views out over the water. It really is a lovely space and the food of course is delicious too.

Breakfast is available until 1 pm every day with things like toasted bagel with cream cheese, and with the addition of smoked bacon and vine tomatoes also. They do their GFP famous creamy scrambled eggs here too served with chives and toasted granary bread. What I really like is Italian Prosciutto with creamy scrambled eggs, homemade potato cakes and toasted granary. You can of course have the GFP big breakfast of smoked bacon, Cumberland sausage, Clonakilty black and white pudding also with scrambled eggs. They also do a Vegetarian breakfast with panfried mushrooms, onion and chive potato cake, creamy scrambled eggs, and grilled vine tomato, and if you really want to ‘pig out’ you can combine the vegetarian and the big breakfast into the ‘All in One Breakfast’ and have the whole lot together – that would do you for a week.!

Lunchtime sees them swing into Light Bites and Sharing Plages as well as the Chef’s Daily Hot Specials. Light Bites include lightly battered calamari served with sweet chilli may or Torpedo Prawns with the same sauce. The Hot Specials include dishes such as homemade Spanish Tortilla served with crème fraiche, warm tomato mix and GFP homemade salad selection, or maybe a Steak Sandwich with strip loin steak with caramelised onions and Cheddar cheese on toasted ciabatta with skinny fries. They do fabulous Gourmet Salads – think warm goats cheese served with stuffed olives, roasted peppers and mixed leaves, or Nicoise salad, Warm Clonakilty Salad, Chicken Caesar, Greek or Caprese if you fancy a touch of the Med or the Aegean. Their Signature Sandwich Selection is famous – every combo you can think of – pastrami, turkey, ham, Emmenthal cheese, vine tomatoes, honey mustard and mayo served on a seeded roll – or Croque Monsieur, Tuna Melt – there are some 17 varieties – and you can have them on gluten free bread also. The GFP are famous too for their Antipasti plates to share – you can as it were make them up yourself choosing two from a range each of meat, cheese and vegetables – spend as much or as little as you like.

They also have an excellent Kids Menu with real food such as homemade quiche served with salad and couscous served with a glass of juice, or chicken and cheese quesadillas. And save room for cakes and desserts – carrot cake topped with lemon butter icing, or raspberry roulade, or chocolate biscuit cake – muffins…….

Enjoy
