Our Latest Great Place to Eat - 8A Brasserie

The new 8A Brasserie certainly piqued the interest of the denizens of Monkstown in a big way when it opened earlier this year and it has settled in very nicely. Having lived for many years in the area, I remember when No. 8A Monkstown Crescent was ‘Coopers’, one of a chain of popular bistro brasserie style restaurants around Dublin. In the intervening years it had spells as other eateries before closing. It was really good then to see it being totally revamped with a cool new face to the world, and also to find that it is now the venture of a husband and wife team Donal and Theresa Gilligan, both very experienced in the industry, and quite extraordinarily both having worked originally in Coopers. So it is a real case of déjà vu - as Donal Gilligan told us on our visit - “we want to create the sort of buzz Coopers had many years ago.” In this they have already succeeded for it is very popular.
