Our Latest Great Place To Eat - Germaines Bar & Restaurant
Wednesday 19 February 2014
Germaine’s Bar & Restaurant is right in the centre of Balinglass and is warm and inviting. Here you are always sure of good food and great variety. They believe in good generous home cooking and they have spent the last 50 years sourcing their meat locally, choosing only the finest Hereford beef available. As I say, this is a great area for the best of beef and other meats – indeed the uncle bought his cattle in Baltinglass. Germaine’s pride themselves too on their hospitality skills and say “Don’t take their word for it, try it for yourself!”
The menu is filled with delicous sounding options with starters like shrimp, tail on, battered and butterflied and served with Joe’s hot sauce and house salad: or their full or half racks of succulent ribs served with a rich BBQ sauce. Always up for something a bit spicy, I enjoy their ‘wings of fire’, marinated in Joe’s origional spicy sauce and served with a house salad. Devilishly good. Himself on the last occasion chose the vol au vent, a delicate puff pastry filled with tender chicken and button mushrooms in a creamy white wine sauce and also served with a salad and he said it was delicious.
