January Value in Countrywide Restaurants

Last week we took a look at restaurant offers and value in Dublin. This week we are seeing what is available countrywide in our restaurants for January and February.
In Co. Wicklow, at A. Caviston in Greystones, their new ‘fish deals’ concept has certain dishes on their menus highlighted to indicate that customers can choose a starter and a main course from these for €14.95 – oysters, fish cakes, fish pie…. www.acaviston.ie Also in Greystones, the great Chakra Indian Restaurant’s 2-course Value Menu is €19.99 available Sunday – Friday 5.30 – 7pm; Saturday until 6.30 p.m. www.jaipur.ie In Enniskerry, the Gordon Ramsay at Powerscourt Restaurant, have a ‘Table for Two’ deal at €66 for a 3-course menu for two, available Tuesday – Thursday, and lunchtime Saturday and Sunday. www.gordonramsay.com/ie/powerscourt-restaurant/ Up country at Bates in Rathdrum their excellent Value Menu, 2/3 courses at €19.95/€24.95, is available every night – no time limits. www.batesrestaurant.com If you want a treat, Druids Brasserie at Druids Glen Resort have a gourmet 5-course Taster Menu at €45. www.druidsglenresort.com The Ballymore Inn at Ballymore Eustace, Co. Kildare, 2-course dinner menu at €28 includes a dry aged sirloin steak and is available all night every night. In addition, Monday to Thursday, they have a main course, dessert, and a glass of wine special at €21. www.ballymoreinn.com
In Kilkenny, at the Royal Spice Indian Restaurant, for January, Monday – Friday, they have the ‘Early Bird for Latecomers’ with their 2/3-course EB at €16.95/€19.95 available all evening. www.royalspice.ie At Aldridge Lodge at Duncannon, Co. Wexford, on Wednesdays and Thursdays, they have a great value Tasting Menu for just €28.50, which must be ordered by the entire table. The menu includes dishes such as Twice Cooked Pork Belly with Baby Turnip, Apple Puree, Soya and Honey Jus, Locally Smoked Salmon Roulade with Kilmore Scallop and Samphire Spring Roll. www.aldridgelodge.com Over in Waterford, L’Atmosphere have a 3-course EB menu at €20 including a glass of wine from 5.30pm – 6.45 or 3 courses sans the vino from 7 pm onwards – not available Friday or Saturday. www.restaurant-latmosphere.com In Thurles, Co. Tipperary, Mitchel House Restaurant, have a deal in conjunction with Thurles Cinema, called ‘Date Night’ where for €45 per couple you can have a 2-course dinner in Mitchel House and tickets for the cinema. At Finin’s in Midleton, they have a great 3-course ‘Special Value Menu’ at €25 which includes Atlantic Seafood chowder, and sirloin steak with wine and mushroom sauce. Take note of the beautiful paintings here including Peter Collis, and Elizabeth Cope. www.finins.ie Not too far away at The Pepperstack Bistro @Rosie’s Bar at Lower Aghada, near Midleton, they have a ‘Thrifty Tuesday’ offer at €10 per main course and, with every adult main course purchased, one child’s main course (from kid’s menu) is free. www.pepperstackbistro.com At the Green Barn Bistro on the N25 near Youghal, they have a daily deal such as Monday, roast of the day is €10; Wednesday, 10% discount for o ‘65’s’; Thursday. Free glass of wine with any main course, Saturday; Family Day – u’4’s eat free. www.greenbarn.ie
In Kinsale, at another great Gastropub, Jim Edwards, they have a 2/3-course Value Menu at €20/€25 available all day Monday – Sunday. They are also doing a Winter Special B & B with a 4 –course meal for €49 pps – if you feel like getting away to beautiful Kinsale. www.jimedwardskinsale.com Also in Kinsale, at The Bulman at Summercove, they have a great Bulman Bites Menu with everything €10.50 or under such as Prawn Tempura or Slow Roast Asian Pork Belly. www.thebulman.ie In Cork City, Boqueria’s ‘small plates’ €7.50-€10 include South Coast Crab Cakes and Crispy pig Cheeks with Chipotle Mayo. www.boqueria.ie
In Oranmore, Co. Galway, at Basilico Restaurant their new Regional Italian Menu for January and February changes weekly, with 2 course at €15 and available Monday to Thursday from 5 p.m. to 8.30 p.m. www.basilicorestaurant.ie The Park House Restaurant in Galway, has an Early Evening Menu with an excellent choice of seafood Sunday through Thursday, 6pm – 7.30 pm, 2/3 course €29.95/€33.95. www.parkhousehotel.ie
The Tavern Bar & Restaurant at Murrisk, Westport, have a Saturday Wine & Dine menu for two people at €55 including a bottle of wine. Dishes include Soba noodles with wok friend Silverhill duckling. Not available over the mid term break. www.tavernmurrisk.com Also in Westport, An Port Mor Restaurant, have a 2/3 course Early Bird at €21.95/€24.95 including roast rump of Mayo lamb. Sunday to Friday 6pm – 7 pm; 6.30pm on Saturdays. www.anportmor.com
Hargadon’s in Sligo, endeavor to keep everything in or around a tenner on their evening menus. The menu includes Bangers and Mash, Homemade Irish Beef burger, and confit duck leg on rustic sliced potato with red cabbage. www.hargadons.com At Source Sligo their 2-course Early Bird menu with coffee runs from Monday to Thursday 5-7 pm for €20. www.sourcesligo.ie
One of my favourite places in Limerick is the French Table at Steamboat Quay. They have a Menu du Soir at €28 for 3 courses with a choice of a quartet of starters, mains and desserts. On the night it might be traditional French Onion soup, followed by seven-hour shoulder of lamb, finishing with a Tarte du Jour. www.frenchtable.ie In nearby Adare, at the White Sage Restaurant their 2/3-course EB at €28.50/€33 is available all evening Tuesday – Friday and 6 - 6.45 pm on Friday and Saturday. www.whitesagerestaurant.com Also in Adare, at the Wild Geese, their 2/3 course EB menu at €29/€35 is available all evening Tuesday – Saturday. www.thewild-geese.com In Co. Clare, at Randaddy’s on the beach front in Lahinch, they have a Set Menu at €25 which gives you an amuse bouche as well as 3 courses which might include Greek Lamb Kebabs with herbed potato wedges, roasted vegetables and Tzatziki sauce. You can have a steak too for a fiver extra. www.randaddys.ie
