Our Latest Great Place to Eat - Sirocco's
Wednesday 05 December 2012
I don’t know anybody who doesn’t love Italian food, not to mention the lighthearted fun atmosphere to be found in Italian restaurants. We have very fond memories of a little Italian restaurant in Soho that we used visit many years ago, and Sirocco’s in Tullamore is a restaurant too that evokes happy memories for many. It is one of those places where you are remembered and recognized “where everybody knows your name” to quote the TV show ‘Cheers’. That is very important in a dining experience be it just going out for a casual bite on a Friday night, or to celebrate those special occasions.
The menu is extensive covering appetisers, pizza, pasta, steaks and grills, and seafood dishes. All of your favourite Italian dishes are here – and then some – combining the best of Italian and Irish produce with alacrity and ability. Starters include a traditional Minestrone soup, delicious with garlic bread with mozzarella. Antipasto Misto sports a selection of Italian cured meats, roast peppers, artichoke, sun dried tomatoes, olives and dressing, whilst Insalata di Casa has mixed leaves with Feta cheese, olives, red onion, tomato, roast peppers, artichokes and Balsamic dressing. They have smoked Irish salmon with capers, or Parma ham with Parmesan shavings and rocket salads, as well as Caesar Salads with or without crispy bacon or chargrilled chicken fillet strips – these can be had as starters or mains. The ever popular chicken wings are Siciliana style, chargrilled and served with a spicy salsa dip, whilst ravioli verdi are oven baked parcels filled with spinach and Ricotta cheese with a creamy tomato sauce – love them! Another great favourite of mine is Melanzane, oven baked aubergine, tomato, courgette and roast peppers topped with pesto and cheese...
