Our Latest Great Place to Eat - Sandbar Trattoria
Thursday 29 November 2012
I have very happy memories as a child of long summer days in Clontarf – cycling along the front by the sea from Hollybrook Road where my aunt lived, to the famous Clontarf Baths for a swim. It was absolutely magical so anytime I can get over to Clontarf I make it my business too – I find it incredibly relaxing and nostalgic. We are very lucky to have such a place on the waterfront in a big city. Needless to say there weren’t many places to eat in those days – it was more a case of a sambo and a flask.
Nowadays there is the Sandbar right on Clontarf Road, with a convenient area to park close by. It is also only twenty minutes walk from Clontarf Dart Station – a lovely walk along the front either coming or going or both. Sandbar started out as a sweet little place with just a dozen seats inside and another six for dining al fresco. It proved so popular that it is now a 66 seater Italian Trattoria combining the best of Irish meats and fish with the best of classical Italian ingredients from their suppliers in North West Italy.
I don’t know anyone who doesn’t love Italian food and, at the Sandbar, they do it really well in a fun friendly atmosphere combing pizza and pasta, with other classic Italian dishes.
