'The Restaurant' at The Wineport - John Healy Special Event

We had a fantastic night at the Wineport to raise both funds and awareness for the Irish Heart Foundation and for 'The Restaurant' star John Healy who is currently awaiting a heart transplant.A reenactment of The Restaurant was carried through with 150 fabulous enthusiastic and glamorous diners all playing their part. John as usual was Maitre d' and gave a great performance. Paolo Tullio, Tom Doorley and myself were the critics who had to comment on the food served by a real celebrity chef.
We kicked off the evening with Bellinis and Bucks Fizz, as you can see in photo of Mary Irwin, John Healy and mise! Starters were green pea soup with poached egg and crispy pancetta, or scallops on Horans black pudding. Mains were a fine fillet of beef topped with a ravioli of Bluebell Falls Goats cheese, on celeriac with rustic potatoes, or darne of salmon with courgette scales on tomato with a pesto. Desserts were a chocolate confection or pannacotta with raspberries. All delicious - and the celebrity chef who got 5 Stars turned out to be Conrad Gallagher! - A case of 'Head Chef' meets 'The Restaurant'.
