It couldn’t but remind me a tad of the opening night of Frasier and Niles Crane’s erstwhile Seattle restaurant venture. If something can go wrong, it will.

Naturally, the critic — me in this case — arrives on the first official night open to the public and encounters the owner, Jules Mak, who tells me they had a quiet, soft opening a few days earlier for family and friends, which turned into bedlam – in a good way, because that’s what soft openings are for and why critics don’t, or shouldn’t, review on those nights.
