Restaurant Review - Lucas
Wednesday 29 May 2024
We were welcomed at the door of the new Lucas, a Spanish wine bar on the Old Dunleary Road, beside the legendary Purty Kitchen, by the eponymous Lucas himself. He wasn’t tall, dark and handsome as you might expect, more along the lines of short, chubby and ginger — and on four legs; a friendly cocker spaniel wagging his tail with delight.
He was quickly called to heel as we were further welcomed by Mercedes, originally from a village just north of Cordoba, who, scooping out generous spoons of Torta de la Serena onto chunks of sourdough, thrust them toward us, asking, “Do you like a strong cheese?” She didn’t have to ask twice.
