Located on the main street of this bustling coastal town, Tapau House offers a wide selection of both familiar and less common Thai dishes to tantalise your tastebuds. The décor here is light and airy providing a welcoming comfortable atmosphere, and the welcoming knowledgable staff only serve to accentuate the pleasant vibes.
Starters include favourites such as chicken satay, Tomyam soup and their finger-lickin Tapau hot wings glazed with a hot and sticky sauce and sprinkled with sesame. There’s Duck Popiah (spring rolls with carrot, cabbage, black mushrooms and glass noodles) not to mention crispy vegan samosas. The crispy butterfly king prawn is a delight, deep-fried and served with a sweet chilli dipping sauce, as is a tempura of Kung Pao cauliflower floret with a chilli spiced powder and Szechuan sauce.
For the mains, their wok-fried dishes are the star of the show with a great variety to choose from, all being served with your choice of rice, noodles, chips or stir-fried veg. There’s fan favourites like chicken in sweet and sour sauce or sirloin of beef in black bean, as well as the likes of Tamarind Chilli Duck with pepper, onion and carrot in a chilli ginger and tamarind sauce, or a Chicken Katsu curry, the panko breaded chook being served in an aromatic katsu sauce.
