"If only they could talk,” I thought, gazing at the magnificent silk-lined walls in the Kennedy Suite at Ashford Castle in Cong Co, Mayo. With views out over the manicured lawns and waters of Lough Corrib, this particular stateroom, in the oldest part of the structure, had been occupied by senator Ted Kennedy in the early 1980s and also by Jean Kennedy Smith. However, the Kennedys are but two of the famous faces to have visited Ireland’s most famous castle.
