Restaurant Review - Dax
Wednesday 07 September 2022
A recent visit to Dax has revitalised my love of French food — and no, I don’t mean the beautiful city in Aquitaine, south-western France. I’m talking about Olivier Meisonnave’s restaurant on Dublin’s Upper Pembroke Street, which implanted the wonderful food and culture of his home city here almost 20 years ago.
Six of us sat down to lunch, including two other vociferous food critics and head honcho of the Restaurants Association of Ireland (RAI) Adrian Cummins, which is enough to make any restaurateur and chef sweat. But not the team at Dax, which has previously won both Best Restaurant in Dublin, as well as Best Chef in Ireland for he who labours at the stove, namely Graeme Neville. Now back in business, this year’s RAI Awards will be held on September 19 in The Convention Centre.
