‘Are we there yet? Are we there yet?” It’s the all-too-familiar wail many parents will be hearing from the back seat of the car before they’ve barely left the city limits on their holliers.
I’ve been that soldier on many occasions, the most annoying being when one of the boys was screeching that he needed to pee. I was so busy scanning for loos on both sides of the road, I completely missed a reduced speed limit and, sure enough, a garda jumped out from behind a bush, speed gun in hand. My little dear was still screaming for a toilet as I was duly fined.
