Restaurant Review - Carton House
Wednesday 13 July 2022
I couldn’t take my eyes off the elaborately coffered, barrel-vaulted ceiling in the Morrison Room, now the destination restaurant at the exquisite Carton House in Maynooth, Co Kildare. Despite the proliferation of delicacies on the plates in front of us, I was distracted by paintings of dashing hussars in their tight, white breeches adorning the walls, and romantic Corinthian columns for flitting behind, and couldn’t but think of Bridgerton. If the frolics portrayed in this fictional series of life among the Regency-period upper classes are anything to go by, they seemed to spend an awful lot of time looking up at ceilings from a horizontal position!
