It’s funny how, down the years, we’ve swung from large restaurants to small ones and back to large ones again. It’s tended to tie in with the boom-and-bust thing, but now we’re having to adjust for reasons we never dreamt of — our own safety.
During the flash-the-cash Celtic Tiger years, everyone wanted to be seen in the latest barn-sized joint but, once the recession hit, we were delighted to be out dining at all. Small became beautiful.
