Our Latest Great Place To Eat - The Four Winds & Second Wind Bar & Eatery
Wednesday 24 February 2016
The Golden Vale is, of course, renowned for its lush green land and, of course, its famous cheeses.
The Four Winds Bar is most definitely a landmark of the town. Warm and inviting, it’s the perfect place for a relaxing drink and a chat with friends and is more than equipped to cater for all events and functions. In 2010, they added the excellent Second Wind Bar & Eatery to their stable. Just off the Main Street, the Second Wind is lively and modern, offering top notch bar food from breakfast through dinner, 7 days a week.
For the starters, they do a black pudding and baby potato salad on a bed of rocket and red onion; filo prawns with Asian salad garnish and an oriental dressing; homemade garlic mushrooms in seasoned breadcrumbs served with garlic mayo; as well as chicken and mushroom vol au vents, chicken and mushroom in a creamy sauce in a case of puff pastry.
Moving on to the mains, and their portions are very generous, there is so much to choose from with tasty dishes like homemade crispy chicken goujons served with sweet chilli sauce, salad and fries; fresh wild Atlantic cod, beer-battered and served with chips and mushy peas; as well as a chicken noodle stir fry with vegetables and their own oriental sauce. They offer some great choices 'From the Grill', such as a Cajun chicken burger with lettuce, peppers, tomato and garlic mayo, served with chunky fries and a fresh salad; or an 8 oz prime Irish rib-eye steak accompanied by fried mushrooms, homemade onion rings, salad and fries, and a choice of pepper sauce or garlic butter. They also do a Winds special burger, beef with bacon, cheddar cheese, mushrooms and homemade onion rings. Delish!
