Lucinda O’Sullivan is Ireland’s most widely read Food and Hospitality Critic. She is also the longest-standing Food Critic with any one newspaper for, as readers of her weekly column in the Sunday Independent know, Lucinda tells it as it is . . . warts and all.
They know they can trust her and have followed in her footsteps for years.
Lucinda's knowledge of the good, the bad and the ugly of Irish Tourism and Food Industry is unprecedented and, as she is totally unsponsored by any organisation or body, she is free to include whom she feels she can personally recommend.
Lucinda started out her career more years ago than she cares to remember in the Tourism Industry working in Ireland House in London. She also has a long history and interest in the improvement of standards both in the hospitality industry and restaurant fields. Consequently, Lucinda is frequently a Judge in competitions involving young chefs as well as being Judge on both the Restaurant Association of Ireland/Sunday Independent Restaurant Awards and the Food & Wine Magazine Awards.
She has been a frequent guest on RTE’s ,Afternoon Show', 'Ireland AM' on TV3, and on BBC’s “Great British Chefs” with Matthew Fort as Judge for the Northern Ireland heat. She has also appeared on RTE’s 'The Restaurant' as Guest Critic and is a frequent contributor on RTE's most popular radio show 'Today with Pat Kenny'.
Her Little Black Book of Great Places to Stay & Eat in Ireland is the hottest guide to Irish accommodation encompassing and unravelling the Real Ireland of today which is funky, quirky, fun, maddening and yet still gloriously romantic.
Lucinda has always been of the view that the best restaurant or best place to stay is not necessarily the biggest, brightest, and shiniest! Lucinda has an unerring feel for sourcing the little place that might be just that little bit different.
